RESIDENTIAL DESIGN

At Jackson Design Company we go through the design of your home in a simple step by step process that makes you feel comfortable knowing that one of your biggest purchases in life is going to go smoothly.

Meeting

We start off with an initial meeting to discuss your goals and get to know you.  This is a great time to bring pictures or plans of design items that you like.  The more we know about you and your lifestyle the better we can design to fit your needs.  We'll also go over an estimated design & fee schedule so that you know what to expect throughout the entire process.

initial design

From the meeting, our team will put together a first draft consisting of the floor plan and front elevation.  This will show you the layout, room sizes and key features of the interior of your new home, addition or renovation.  With the addition of the front elevation you will also get a good idea of what the exterior will look like.

Pricing Plans

After the revisions from the initial design, we move on to what we refer to as pricing plans.  These will include the detailed floor plans, detailed elevations of all four sides and the electrical plans.  These are the key components that your builder needs to get a budget price together for you.  We do this step before full construction documents so that you are able to make key changes to fit your budget without incurring additional design expense; saving you both time and money.

construction documents

Once you have a price from your builder we will make any necessary changes to ensure that you are within budget.  We then complete the remaining drawings and details needed to send off to engineering and permitting.  These include the Foundation Plan, Roof Plan, Sections, Details and Site Plan.

project closeout

Now that you've received your final plans, it's time for you to review and make sure everything is perfect with the additional drawings.  Once we have final approval we close out the design process, however, we aren't out of the picture.  We like to keep in touch with you and your builder to make sure there aren't any issues that arise during construction.  Many times standing in a framed room can seem different than what you envisioned from the plans.  If it's possible, we will work with you and your builder to find solutions to make sure that you are fully satisfied with your home.
